At The Belgian Waffle Co, we believe that a business built on everyday moments of joy must also be built responsibly. As our brand grows across India through company-operated and franchise operated stores, our central kitchen, warehouses and packaged product range, we recognise that our activities interact with the environment, with people and with the communities we serve. Our approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters is guided by our Environmental & Social (E&S) Policy and is being operationalised through an Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) that is progressively embedded across our operations. The ESMS provides a structured framework to identify, assess, manage and monitor E&S risks and opportunities across our value chain, and draws on applicable Indian laws and regulations, relevant investor standards and recognised international good practice.
Our ESG approach rests on four simple ideas:
• Compliance first – we seek to meet applicable legal and regulatory requirements wherever we operate.
• Safe and responsible operations – we aim to protect the health, safety and dignity of everyone associated with our business.
• Quality and trust – food safety, hygiene and product quality remain non-negotiable fundamentals for us.
• Continual improvement – we intend to strengthen our systems, awareness and practices progressively over time.
Responsible growth begins with sound governance. Our E&S Policy is approved at the Board level, and oversight of environmental and social matters is exercised through a designated internal governance structure supported by an E&S function and functional single point of contact.
• Board-approved E&S Policy that applies to our current and future operations across the geographies in which we are active.
• Defined roles and responsibilities for E&S implementation, supported by periodic management review.
• Zero tolerance towards corruption, bribery and unfair business practices, in line with our internal codes and policies.
• Internal and independent external reviews of our E&S management system, with findings tracked to closure.
• Confidentiality, data privacy and responsible communication practices, as set out in our website Privacy Policy and Terms.
We recognise that food production, packaging and retail operations carry an environmental footprint. Our focus is on managing this footprint sensibly at our own facilities and encouraging better practices across our network
• Waste management: we endeavour to segregate waste at source and route waste streams, including food waste, packaging waste and e-waste, through authorised handlers in accordance with applicable rules.
• Packaging: we seek to promote the use of environmentally preferable materials and to work with our partners on reducing avoidable packaging over time.
• Energy and water: we encourage efficient use of energy and water at our central kitchen, warehouses and stores through awareness, preventive maintenance and equipment upkeep.
• Regulatory obligations: we aim to maintain the environmental registrations, authorisations and records applicable to our operations.
• Awareness: good environmental practices are included in the training and communication we provide to our teams and store partners.
• We strive to provide a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace across our offices, warehouses and stores.
• Recruitment, compensation and progression decisions are intended to be fair and meritbased, without discrimination.
• We do not accept child labour, forced labour or any form of harassment in our operations, and we expect the same of those who work with us.
• We maintain a Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) framework and internal committee in line with applicable law.
• Occupational health and safety training — covering safe equipment handling, fire safety, emergency preparedness and use of protective equipment — forms part of our regular capability building.
We engage with employees, customers, suppliers, franchise partners, investors, regulators and the communities around our operations through channels appropriate to each group. Concerns, feedback or grievances relating to our environmental and social performance can be raised through the contact channels published on this website
• Grievances may be submitted through our digital platforms or by writing to the designated e-mail ID published on the Contact Us page.
• Complaints are recorded and addressed through defined internal processes, and anonymity is respected where requested, to the extent permitted by law.
• We do not permit retaliation against anyone who raises concern in good faith.
